The markets rose steadily for the better part of the week on news of robust GDP numbers and allaying of fears on the Dubai repayment crisis. The S&P CNX 500 index rose over 4 per cent to 4,239, thereby taking the benchmark’s portfolio value higher to Rs 11.04 lakh as against Rs 10.60 lakh in the preceding week.

In the week under review, fund managers barring Phani Sekhar were active. Ajay Parmar and Praveen Panjwani went on a buying rampage, acquiring stocks worth Rs 4.45 lakh and Rs 3.08 lakh, respectively. Amar Ambani, however, was seen booking profits and ended the week with net sales of stocks worth Rs 1.33 lakh. Interestingly, Praveen Panjwani, Phani Sekhar and Ajay Parmar are now fully invested in the markets while Amar Ambani’s cash levels have shot up to 43 per cent.
BACK IN BUY MODE

After changing track last week, Praveen Panjwani was once again seen in the buy mode. His total purchases amounted to Rs 3.98 lakh as against his sales of Rs 90,200. He booked gains in the range of 3-4 per cent on his investment in Yes Bank and Crompton Greaves. His fresh investments include Allahabad Bank, Bharat Forge, IRB Infrastructure, Sesa Goa, Tata Motors and Tata Steel. Panjwani’s net worth moved up by 3.7 per cent to Rs 10.27 lakh from Rs 9.90 lakh before. Currently, his net worth is up 2.7 per cent from the base level of Rs 10 lakh, and he holds Rs 4,434 in cash.

Unlike others, Amar Ambani is cash rich, with a balance of Rs 4.86 lakh. His portfolio churning exercise last week saw him sell stocks worth Rs 1.33 lakh at the net level. His gross sales for the week amounted to Rs 5.33 lakh, while gross purchases stood at Rs 4 lakh. Ambani booked a gain of almost 36 per cent on his investment in Mastek followed by a near 21 per cent gain in Omnitech Infosolutions. Meanwhile, he has bought shares of Brigade Enterprises, Eicher Motors, Aurobindo Pharma, PVP Ventures and Tata Elxsi among others. Ambani’s portfolio value now stands at Rs 11.32 lakh, up 13.2 per cent since inception, including an almost 8 per cent jump in value last week.
